Alex’s career with Griffin Alliance started 8 years ago and has spanned many
different promotional and door roles at venues such as The Office
(Club110-‘Flirt’), Red Square, Soul 168, New York Bar and Grill, The Stag
Hotel, Duke of York, Dog and Duck and Tapas on Hindley. Alex’s experience
has gained her the role of Hosting Coordinator, responsible for recruitment,
training, communication, reporting, rosters and development of different
host roles for different venues. Hosting includes cashiers, promotional
work (flyer distribution and membership signups), line management, door
management and reporting.
*Hosting *
We offer hosting with a difference- our hosts are not traditional ‘door
bitches’. We endeavor to have a positive interaction with every patron and
leave them with a good feeling and attitude before they enter the venue. We
have the responsibility of making sure the people that enter the venue are
‘happy campers’, there to enjoy and respect the venue. We take this very
seriously and use tools such as membership sign-ups, general friendly
conversation, prompts for venue feedback/suggestions, give-aways and
dresscoding. Our hosts need to be in tune with the patrons, we analyse the
venue from the eyes of the patron – gathering their opinions and suggestions
and taking note of venue’s volume, lighting, temperature, service, layout
and reporting this back to the venue weekly.
Alex also has interest in running promotions and developing nights for
venues especially in her Site Coordinator role at Tapas on Hindley and Door
Management role at Dog and Duck. Apart from her work with Griffin Alliance,
Alex has completed degrees in biotechnology and commercialisation of
technology and is currently completing her PhD in Biotechnology. Alex also
works part time as a Science and Industry Analyst, working in communications
and marketing surrounding emerging technologies. In her spare time she
enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, rockclimbing, camping and South
Australian wines.
